Crissy & Crew: Williamsburg, Michigan
There’s something so special about capturing the connection between a mother and her children, and when you add the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Michigan, it’s magic. I had the privilege of working with Crissy and her four kids on a beautiful beach motherhood session, and it was truly one of those moments I’ll never forget.
Like most moms, Crissy told me she hardly ever gets in the photos with her kids. She’s the one behind the camera, capturing all the sweet moments with her iPhone, but rarely gets to be in the picture herself. I really wanted to change that for her. With a family of four littles (who are growing bigger every day!), I wanted to create something they could all look back on and cherish—photos of Crissy with her kids, not just of them.
Crissy and her family are about to embark on a new chapter, moving to Alaska as a Coast Guard family, so I wanted to help them capture this little “blip” in time—their life in Traverse City, Michigan. The beach setting was the perfect place for that. The natural beauty of Northern Michigan, combined with the timeless, minimalist approach I love to shoot with, made these photos feel so heartfelt and real.
It was such an honor to capture these moments for Crissy and her family, and I know they’ll look back on these photos for years to come. There’s nothing like the power of a photograph to tell a story and preserve memories.
